A big win for the Oilers in Game 3 but one that may come at a heavy price.
The Edmonton Oilers picked up a big win and did so in convincing fashion in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday, but unfortunately for the Oilers it may have been a win that came at a heavy price.
There's been no official update as of yet but what we do know right now is that Oilers forward Connor Brown did not finish Game 3 after he was on the receiving end of a monster hit from Dallas Stars defenseman Alexander Petrovic. Petrovic delivered the hit to Brown in the game's second period and Brown would immediately head to the locker room after taking the hit and did not return for the remainder of the game.
The question here will be whether or not Petrovic caught Brown up high with this hit, and based on the replay angles that I have seen so far it does appear as though Petrovic caught Brown in the head on this one. As Petrovic's shoulder makes contact, Brown's head can be seen immediately rocking back with his chin having appeared to take a significant portion of the impact.
That, combined with the fact that Brown appears to be injured on the play, could potentially lead to supplemental discipline for Petrovic from the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety.
Here's a look at the hit at real speed and in slow motion:
Was this a good hit? Or should the league take this one under review? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
