Connor Hellebuyck gives up another terrible goal in Game 7.
Connor Hellebuyck gives up up another bad goal with the season on the line.
The Winnipeg Jets find themselves in an early hole with their season on the line in tonight's Game 7 against the St. Louis Blues, with goaltender Connor Hellebuyck once again showing his struggles in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Hellebuyck gave up a goal on the very first shot of the game but you could make the argument that the Jets as a whole had a complete breakdown as Jordan Kyrou found the back of the net just 1 minute and 10 seconds into the game, but the second goal of the game was much different.
It was the Blues' Mathieu Joseph who would beat Hellebuyck for the second time in the first period when he fired off a seemingly harmless shot from near the top of the face-off circle, a shot that would beat Hellebuyck clean.
Here is a look at the play:
Kyle Connor didn't do his goaltender any favors by giving up the turnover that would lead to the scoring chance for Joseph, but there is simply no denying the fact that Hellebuyck has struggled more than any other goaltender in these Stanley Cup playoffs.
There are still at least two more periods to play in this Game 7, but the Blues could not have asked for a better start.
