He's by far and away the best player in the National Hockey League, and has already set numerous records and collected an impressive trophy hardware collection. But the one prize that still eludes him is the Stanley Cup itself, and is there a chance that he could look to move on from his current team?

As you know, Connor McDavid has suited up for the Edmonton Oilers for the last eight years, and if you can believe it, this upcoming season will be just one shy of an official decade in the National Hockey League. And the farthest that the Oilers have advanced in the postseason with McDavid and his superstar sidekick Leon Draisatil in tow is the Western Conference Finals in 2022, falling to the eventual Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in a quick four game sweep.

How about an absolutely earth shattering trade proposal that would not only see McDavid switch from the Western to the Eastern Conference, but land with his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs in what would be arguably the biggest acquisition in franchise history?

In this proposed mock trade originally seen on MarkerZone, the Oilers would send McDavid to his hometown Leafs and receive a king's ransom in return in the form of forwards Mitch Marner and Matthew Knies along with defenseman T.J. Brodie. But that's not all, as this hypothetical deal also includes the Leafs giving up their 2024 and 2026 1st round Draft selections.

Needless to say, this trade would turn the NHL world upside down. Which team would walk away victorious in this proposed deal?
