He’s afraid of what? That has to be the dumbest fear there is for a guy that spends most of his life around skate blades and hockey sticks.
Amazon Prime’s new documentary series FACEOFF has been exposing a lot of the stuff behind the scenes in the NHL, including the friendship between Toronto Maple Leafs’ William Nylander and Boston Bruins’ David Pastrnak and the raw emotions in the dressing room of the Edmonton Oilers after losing Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers.
A lot about captain Connor McDavid has been on display in the series, including his biggest fear as his wife Lauren Kyle reveals in the documentary series that the Oilers’ superstar is afraid of ketchup and their personal chef sneaks her bottles of ketchup when he’s not looking.
This is quite the surprising fear for a guy that spends most of his life around skate blades and hockey sticks. One thing that McDavid is not afraid of is leading his team and one episode showcased that when after a 4-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 2 of the Final, McDavid unleashed an expletive-laced postgame outburst in the team’s dressing room.
“Do I yell and scream every night? No,” McDavid told NHL.com. “Do I pick my spots when my voice is important? Yes. And I thought Game 2 in a Stanley Cup Final, in a game where it was a really big game and we didn’t play our best, I thought that was an important time.”
But in no time is it appropriate to bring ketchup close to him.
