The offseason has just gotten started and it’s already been rough on Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, who felt the need to have a dialogue with fans on Tuesday.

McDavid has recovered from a stint fighting COVID-19 which kicked things off pretty brutally at the start of the offseason when he was diagnosed with the virus. Though he is now feeling better, it sounds like he’s missing the game as he made a post on social media which read:

“How it started vs. how it’s going… Missing the game and the fans!”

The Oilers announced on Oct. 5 that McDavid had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and was self-quarantining at home. It looks like it’s where he’s remained for now, he who is hanging out with his dog while he awaits more information on the upcoming season.

We are still left wondering when the 2020-21 season will get underway, but the National Hockey League and its Players Association are reportedly hard at work coming up with different scenarios to ensure the upmost safety for the upcoming campaign.

McDavid appears to be left in limbo for the moment… Players are expected to get a committee together in the coming days.

On Friday, one of the scenario that was considered by the NHL to start the upcoming campaign with a bang was rejected. According to a source who got in touch with The Athletic, “the potential of starting the 2020-21 NHL season on Lake Louise in Alberta has been quashed.”

When commissioner Gary Bettman made his opening statement at the NHL Draft on Oct. 6, he mentioned that he was looking forward to the next campaign, and announced that it would get underway on Jan. 1st. However on Thursday, the NHL announced that it will postpone the Winter Classic and All-Star Game, which was quite a blow to fans that hoped the action would kick off with the outside game in Minnesota.

McDavid is missing the game and we hope he will let the committee know when they first meet in order to get everything in order so that the 2020-21 season can start as soon as possible.
