Contenders should jump on Sabres’ offer to trade Kane!

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun has been quite adamant about the Buffalo Sabres looking to trade top forward Evander Kane, especially it has been revealed that the team is willing to retain a portion of Kane’s $5.25 million salary to facilitate a trade and get an interesting return.

Though LeBrun believes a trade in inevitable what it comes to Kane, he thinks it might take a few weeks to be finalized and in the books. However, James O'Brien of NBC Sports disagrees and wrote a piece on Wednesday on how rival clubs, most importantly Cup contending ones, should jump on the Sabres' offer and land Kane now!

"The sooner you land Kane, the sooner you get him into your lineup, and if there were work visa concerns, you’d already be losing a game or two once the transaction is made," O'Brien writes.

"A  contender should look at the boost the Predators got from Turris, feel jealous, and then try to land a difference-maker like Kane sooner rather than later. LeBrun’s reports certainly indicate that the Sabres are willing to get creative to make a big move happen.

So why wait?"

Kane is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the Sabres have not expressed the desire to offer him a contract extension. They could build a better future for the team by moving him.
