Controversial front-runner emerges for Rangers’ head coaching job and fans react!
Uh oh…

The New York Rangers are looking at different candidates to take over behind the team’s bench days after Gerard Gallant was let go as head coach. The chatter is getting loud because fans have heard the names of Joel Quenneville and Patrick Roy mentioned as option, but it sounds like Mike Babcock might be a front-runner for the job in the Big Apple.
According to Vince Z. Mercogliano, a few sources have heard that the Rangers have been making calls doing homework on him.
“There definitely seems to be some curiosity regarding how much he’s grown/changed since last coaching in 2019,” he reports.
Babcock hasn’t coached in the league since getting a lot of heat and backlash for poor actions taken on Red Wings players in Detroit and during his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The once the highest-paid head coach in the NHL has been staying away from the league, but it could change if the Rangers are serious about hiring him.
And it sure sounds like they are.
Do you believe Babs deserve another chance to coach a franchise in the NHL? Several fans on social media reacted to the report, and most of them do not want to see Babs take over in New York City.
