A tough call in Game 3.

This will prove to be a controversial moment in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final if only because of how big of an impact it will have on the outcome of this game.

The St. Louis Blues were hosting the first Stanley Cup Final game in their city in nearly half a decade and unfortunately for them things did not go the way anyone in that building would have anticipated. Although both teams appeared to come out of the gate with plenty of energy the Bruins would take over the game a little midway through the first period thanks in large part to their top line. The Bruins punished the Blues on the forecheck and combined with some questionable decision making from the Blues it resulted in a major deficit.

The Bruins quickly found themselves down 2 - 0 in front of what had been a raucous home crowd, but a home crowd that had fallen largely silent at this point. It was not until the dying seconds of the 1st period however that the Bruins would truly drive the dagger home. It was Bruins forward Sean Kuraly who would find the back of the net for the Bruins 3rd goal of the 1st period and things would get even worse from there.

The Blues would challenge the goal by arguing that the play should have been ruled offside, and there were certainly some camera angles that would seemingly support that belief, but the officials would not rule in their favor. This would result in a minor penalty for the Blues and yet another goal for the Bruins on the following power play, an absolutely disaster for St. Louis.
