Controversial missed call furiously exposed by Vegas in Oilers’ overtime win
The Golden Knights are pissed. Do you agree? Watch it all below:
The Edmonton Oilers are leaving Vegas with a 2-0 series lead over the Golden Knights. Leon Draisaitl scored in overtime to defeat the Knighs 5-4, however captain Mark Stone is furious with the controversial goal. Just minutes prior to the overtime winner, a battle for a loose puck between Oilers’ forward Viktor Arvidsson and Golden Knights’ Brayden McNabb resulted in the Vegas defenseman crashing awkwardly into the boards, forcing him to leave the game.
No penalty was called on the play, and the Golden Knights are furious about it, especially since the game-winner from Edmonton came moments later…
“(It’s) pretty clear it’s a penalty,” Stone said after the game. “His stick is between McNabb’s legs, he sends him head-first into the boards. Pretty clear-cut penalty in my eyes, and I think everybody’s eyes, right? But it’s hockey, you don’t always get the calls, but unfortunately now we might be down a D-man. We’ll see tomorrow. It’s a dirty play and we don’t get the call.”
Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy called out the official by name.
“Listen, Gord (Dwyer) is looking at it. He blew it, he missed the call. I don’t know what else to say,” Cassidy said. “It’s a can-opener trip, it’s a dangerous play, it’s all those things. But it didn’t get called so you got to keep playing.”
Cassidy didn’t have a status update for McNabb for Game 3. It takes place on Saturday in Edmonton.
