The Vegas Golden Knights were not the least bit pleased after this ruling from the National Hockey League's officials on Sunday night, and they aren't the only ones who feel the league may have gotten it wrong here.

The Golden Knights clashed with the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday night and it wasn't long before controversy would rear its ugly head. In the game's very first period, Golden Knights forward Pavel Dorofeyev would knock the puck into the Avalanche net with a cross-check like motion of his stick, but the officials on the ice would rule that there was no goal.

The call on the ice caused an eruption of outrage from the Golden Knights who insisted that Dorofeyev had hit the puck with the shaft of his stick, and not his glove, which in turn meant that it should have been ruled a good goal. The officials on the ice would congregate and look at the video replay however, due to the fact that the initial call on the ice had been no goal, the call would stand.

Here is a look at the video replay:

There were many who expressed their disagreement with the call made by the NHL officials in the end.

The Golden Knights were beside themselves and unfortunately things would only get worse from there. Just seconds after having a goal disallowed, the Golden Knights would give up a shorthanded goal to the Avalanche when Jack Drury undressed Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart on the breakaway.
