Corey Perry is once again a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

On Friday around noon ET, the Los Angeles Kings traded the veteran forward to the Bolts in return for a second round pick in 2028. There is also salary retention. Tampa adds $1M net cap hit (50% retained) with the possibility of an additional $500K in performance bonus.

Perry signed a one-year, $2-million contract with the Kings in the off-season, with performance bonuses, that includes a no-trade clause. It was believed that Perry was interested in negotiating an extension once the trade deadline had passed, though it seems like he's preferred another possible shot at the Stanley Cup instead.

This will be Perry’s second stint in Tampa Bay, after playing there for two seasons with the team from 2021-23. He helped the Bolts reach the 2022 Stanley Cup Final before losing to the Colorado Avalanche.

The 40-year-old forward has collected 11 goals and 17 assists through 49 games in his first season with the Kings. Perry has 459 goals and 963 points in 1,442 career games split between the Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, and Kings. He led the Ducks win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history in 2007.
