A decision is in.

It was a bizarre set of circumstances for veteran forward Corey Perry, who had his contract terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this season after it was determined following an investigation that he violated team policies on workplace misconduct.

Shortly afterward, he inked a contract with the Edmonton Oilers shortly after being told by Commissioner Gary Bettman that he was eligible to return.

Earlier today, news broke that the Blackhawks have reached a settlement with Perry over the threatened contract grievance.

Per the Chicago-Sun Times:

"The Hawks will incur a small salary-cap charge as a result of the settlement, the Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reported Thursday, but that's unlikely to matter since the Hawks currently have the most cap space of any team. The Hawks declined a Sun-Times request for comment on the matter.

The process ultimately played out similarly to the Sharks vs. Evander Kane spat in 2022, which also resulted in a settlement after a contract termination."
