There are little few details out on what happened on Friday, but the Los Angeles Kings have just reported that veteran forward Corey Perry was possibly injured while skating with his teammates at Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo.

According to what has been shared by Mayor’s Manor, sources report that “he play in question appeared to take place along the boards, and it wasn’t immediately clear if he went down as the result of catching a rut on the ice or if it was a result of contact from another player. Eventually, Perry was said to be taken off the ice in a wheelchair for further medical evaluation.”

More details are likely to come in the next few days on Perry’s condition, perhaps once training camp opens, but losing him for any period of time would be a significant blow to the Kings, who signed the 41-year-old to a one-year, $2MM contract at the start of the offseason. Perry was signed in order to bring leadership and production to the bottom six in Los Angeles.

After 14 seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, which included a Stanley Cup ring in 2007 and a Hart Memorial and Maurice Richard Trophy in 2011, Perry has moved across the league, always joining contenders. He has reached the Stanley Cup Finals five out of six times since signing with the Dallas Stars before the 2019-20 season, after being bought out by the Ducks, but lost each time.

Split between the Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, and Edmonton Oilers, Perry has recorded 76 goals and 159 points in 404 games while averaging 12:51 of ice time per game. In his past six playoff runs, he’s added 28 goals and 52 points in 119 games.

Hoping for the best when it comes to Perry and today’s incident.
