It was a long summer for unrestricted free agent defenseman Ben Hutton, but it’s all over now. He can focus on the 2019-20 season with his new team.

In the middle of the night, Hutton agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings. The deal will pay Hutton $1.5 million.

The 26-year-old has played all four of his NHL seasons with the Vancouver Canucks after they selected him in the fifth round back in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Last season in Vancouver, he managed to put up five goals and 15 assists in 69 games.

He gets a new start in Los Angeles, where he hopes to get a key role as a blue liner. Hutton, who was one of the coveted defensemen left on the market, has 70 points in 276 NHL career games and won gold with Team Canada back at the 2016 World Championship.
