When the Arizona Coyotes hired the NHL’s youngest-ever general manager last season in 26-year-old John Chayka, they showed that they were a forward-thinking group. Earlier tonight, they’ve proven that once again by hiring the NHL’s first-ever full-time female coach in Dawn Braid, reports The Globe and Mail.

Braid’s responsibilities will revolve around skating coaching. Having consulted for the Coyotes last year, as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, and Calgary Flames, Braid will have no issues integrating herself:

“It’s something that I’ve wanted to see happen… The fact that they respect what I do enough to name me as a full-time coach… I take a ton of pride in that. I’ve worked very hard for this opportunity.”
