Craig Berube shares life changing update regarding Anthony Stolarz.

The Toronto Maple Leafs likely won't be seeing goaltender Anthony Stolarz anytime in the near future.

On Saturday, Craig Berube briefly spoke with reporters on the status of his missing goaltender and there was nothing about those comments that gave any indication that Berube expects Stolarz to be back with the team anytime soon. When asked about the status of Stolarz, Berube confirmed that the Maple Leafs netminder is headed to see a specialist in order to get another opinion on whatever it is that has sidelined him since he last played in a game against the Boston Bruins all the way back on November 11th.

"I think he will be going soon to see that doctor for that," said Berube of Stolarz meeting with a specialist. "Fairly soon."

Berube also rather nonchalantly dropped a major update regarding Stolarz's life away from the ice while speaking to reporters about the goaltenders status. Without being prompted to do so, Berube added that Stolarz and his wife had just welcomed a new baby into the world, doing so almost as if to explain why Stolarz has yet to meet with the specialist.

"I know he just had a baby, so yeah," said Berube dropping the big reveal.

This is of course wonderful news for Stolarz and his family even if it does come at a time when he himself is struggling to get healthy. That being said trying to recover from injury while also dealing with a new baby has to be a huge challenge for Stolarz to be taking on, especially around the holidays.

That being said, Stolarz having a planned meeting with a specialist that has yet to take place does however make it seem like the 31 year old is still many weeks away from a potential return.
