An official update on Steven Lorentz after he was injured on Saturday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have dodged a bullet.
The Maple Leafs lost forward Steven Lorentz to injury on Saturday after he appeared to get caught up high by a hit from Detroit Red Wings defenseman Ben Chiarot, with Chiarot's shoulder driving into Lorentz's chin and cause his head to jerk violently to the side.
Lorentz would leave the game as a result of the injury he suffered on the hit and would not return to the game, with his team completely collapsing after he made his exit from the ice.
Thankfully for the Maple Leafs it sounds like Lorentz has avoided the worst case scenario, with an update from Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube seeming to be relatively positive about the situation. When asked about Lorentz, Berube informed reporters that he was already back out on the ice and skating, and even left open the possibility that he would be back as soon as this week.
While Lorentz has been ruled out of the rematch against the Red Wings on Monday, it sounds like he could be in the lineup come Tuesday when the Maple Leafs face off against the Nashville Predators.
That sounds like Lorentz is going to be a game time decision come Tuesday, so we can likely expect another update from Craig Berube in that regard in relatively short order.
