Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has certainly been more comfortable challenging his players as the season has worn on, with many viewing it as a sign that Berube realizes the writing is on the wall when it comes to his future in Toronto.

On Friday night, Berube engaged in his latest example of this behavior when he called out Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll for his performance late in the game. Woll, who faced 36 shots against the Carolina Hurricanes while opposing goaltender Brandon Bussi only faced 26 from the Leafs, finished the game with a .889 save percentage, stopping 32 of those shots, and actually finished with a better save percentage than Bussi despite the loss.

"He’s played well, but, like, tonight, in the end, I think, I don’t think, I know we need a save," said Berube after the game. "Whether it’s the OT or one of the breakaways, you know, you just need a big save there."

Woll has been one of the few bright spots for the Maple Leafs this season with a 3.07 goals against average and a .905 save percentage despite his team's obvious struggles in front of him and despite starting the season on the sidelines due to injury.

The response to Berube's comments from fans on social media has been overwhelmingly negative.

Some have even suggested that Berube may be trying to get himself fired sooner rather than later.

Let me know what you think of Berube's decision to call out Woll in the comments.
