The Boston Bruins have had their share of injury woes so far this season, though the good news is that it hasn't had a negative effect whatsoever on their record. As it currently stands, they lead the NHL with a sparkling 11-2 mark through the first 13 games of the year.

But the news only gets better from there. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who has been absent from the lineup after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, could be making a return to action in short order. According to head coach Jim Montgomery, McAvoy could be making his season debut within the next seven days.

"McAvoy is checking a lot of boxes. He's getting close," said Montgomery. "He'll be playing within a week, I think."

However, his comments came with a quick clarification.

"I'm not going to confirm or deny that, because there's boxes left to be checked," he said.

Last season, McAvoy led all Bruins defenseman with 56 points (10 goals, 46 assists) while also enjoying a stellar +31 plus/minus rating in an average of nearly 25 minutes of ice time per night.

The Bruins are next in action tomorrow night at home at TD Garden against the visiting Calgary Flames.
