With his time with Rögle BK of the Swedish Hockey League officially coming to a close, Detroit Red Wings 1st overall selection in 2022 Marco Kasper is ready to set his sights on North America.

Kasper, who was taken with the 8th overall pick in last year's NHL Draft, appears to be on his way to join Detroit's American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins, according to a report released by Rögle BK's website.

The translated text reads:

"As early as this week he'll join [Detroit's organization] to finish up the season. If it's to play for the Red Wings or Griffins in the AHL he doesn't know, but he looks foward to the opportunity."

Things go fast in hockey. Kasper's contract with the Red Wings allows the club to pick him up across the Atlantic immediately. And as early as this week, he joins the organization to complete the season. Whether it will be a game in the Red Wings in the NHL or with the Grand Rapid Griffins in the AHL - he does not know, but he is looking forward to the chance to show himself.

"It was very emotional after the match. When the fans sang the anthem... but it has been great fun playing here in Rögle. It has been like my second home. I came here when I was 16 and it has meant a lot to me to have played and developed here. I've had a lot of help from the coaches and Chris (Abbott) and Hampus (Sjöström). I have made many friends here," says Kasper.'

Kasper, who was signed to a three year entry level deal by Detroit shortly after being drafted, scored eight goals with 15 assists along with a +7 rating in 52 games played this past season.
