Crosby knows exactly what to say about Game 1 loss

The playoffs have begun but it didn't start off like the Pittsburgh Penguins were hoping. 

Josh Bailey scored 4:39 into overtime to give the New York Islanders a 4-3 win against the Penguins in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday night. 

Pens captain Sidney Crosby wants his team to clean the slate ahead of Friday's Game 2 on Long Island. 

"These games are going to be close. They're going to be tight the entire series," Crosby said, per NHL.com. "We did some good things. We didn't find a way when it was a tie game to build and get a lead. It ended up costing us.

"You have to learn from it regardless of the outcome. You have to learn from every game and get better with every game. We'll learn from this one and make sure we're better in Game 2."

The game did go into overtime. The result could have gone either way. 

Crosby and the rest of the Penguins group have a lot of experience to draw on and will hope to bounce back on Friday night for the second game of this first round series. 

Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and defenseman Kris Letang are the only Penguins players remaining from the 2013 playoff series against the Islanders. Their playoff experience has taught them not to panic and, as the captain did, find the right words to focus on the next game.
