One has been out of action far longer.
To say that the Detroit Red Wings have not been healthy all season would be a major understatement. They began the 2022-23 campaign without the services of reliable forward Robby Fabbri, who suffered a torn ACL this past March. And if that weren't enough, gritty goal scorer Tyler Bertuzzi has broken both of his hands after blocking a shot.
Meanwhile, Jakub Vrana remains in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program for an undisclosed personal issue, and there's been no timetable or update regarding his health status or a potential return to action.
Detroit has suffered more health setbacks of late, with first year Detroit defenseman Olli Määttä having missed the past two games with an undisclosed illness. He didn't practice today at Little Caesars Arena as his team gears up to face the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow night, and there's been no indication as to whether or not he'll be able to avoid missing a third straight game.
However, the good news is that Fabbri seems to be progressing. Per Detroit Free Press beat writer Helene St. James, Fabbri was a participant in today's practice and wasn't wearing a non-contact jersey, a positive sign.
According to Fabbri himself, he's still targeting next month for his season debut.
