A key update for the Red Wings captain.

The Detroit Red Wings can ill afford to lose another top player, as they're already without the likes of Tyler Bertuzzi (broken hand), Jakub Vrana (NHLPA Player Assistance Program), Robby Fabbri (torn ACL recovery) and Oskar Sundqvist (upper body injury).

Earlier today, it almost seemed as though captain Dylan Larkin could be joining that extensive injury report, as it was announced by several team beat writers that the Detroit captain missed practice today at Little Caesars Arena.

However, the news isn't all bad. Larkin was simply taking a maintenance day, and despite continuing to deal with a nagging upper body ailment, is anticipated to be available tomorrow night for his team's home matchup against the Minnesota Wild.

Larkin has enjoyed a strong start to this season, posting productive numbers of four goals and four assists in the first seven games played, giving him a pace of 47 apiece.
