Crucial update released on TJ Brodie

The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't been fully healthy for a while, especially on the back end. Defenseman TJ Brodie hasn't played since early last month against the Vancouver Canucks after suffering an oblique injury, though there is good news to be shared.

He's participated in drills during practice recently, but has yet to fully engage in a practice session with the rest of his teammates. However, he'll be traveling with the team in their upcoming road trip, though he won't be in action just yet.

“He’s progressing well and he’ll travel with us on this trip,” Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said following the team’s practice on Friday. “We do have a practice day in Dallas and morning skates and such that we expect to see him more involved.”

Brodie is one of several Leafs defensemen currently on the shelf with injuries, including Jake Muzzin who has been out since Oct. 17, along with Morgan Rielly who was injured late last month.

The Leafs will be skating against the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow, followed by another road matchup against the Dallas Stars. They then return home to face three more Western Conference opponents in the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames and Anaheim Ducks in the friendly confines of Scotiabank Arena.
