Insider Frank Seravalli might be on to something. The Daily Faceoff insider pitched a huge idea on his Twitter account and it could catch the attention of an NHL franchise.

As he discussed the return of taxi squads as COVID has taken over the 2021-22 season, Seravalli believes this might open up a door for clubs to bring back veterans on short-term, part-time contracts, and this prompted him to wonder if this could be the time for the return of legend Jaromir Jagr in the NHL.

“Since we’ve got older, wily veterans potentially making NHL comebacks on the taxi squad … could one team please sign Jagr (@68Jagr) ?” Seravelli wrote, adding that Jagr has 19 points in 28 games this year for the Kladno Knights of the Czech league.

“Turns 50 in Feb. Perfect guy to slide into the lineup in a pinch. Loves to practice. Great in the room.”

I have to agree with Seravalli that Jagr could be a necessary veteran in a dressing room, one with pure talent and amazing work habits that would impact younger players for years to come.

However, you have to imagine that Jagr might not have a single ounce of interest in return to the NHL, especially seeing that he is considered integral to the survival to his team and league overseas. He has once cited his saving the club financially as one of the reasons he even still plays hockey, and it’s hard to imagine that he would put his club in jeopardy for a return to the NHL. Unless there is a Stanley Cup on the line…? Even then…

This could be a long shot, though you have to agree with Seravelli that it is a tempting one. Will an NHL team make an attempt?

If this unbelievable Jagr option is on the table, you have to imagine there are at least a few NHL teams that would probably consider it.

Man, I love Jagr.
