Curtis Joseph and Alex Ovechkin chirp each other online over NHL goal record
This is old time hockey! I love it!
Yesterday, after Alex Ovechkin surpassed Wayne Gretzky as the NHL's all-time goal scoring leader, the Washington Capitals revealed a partnership that they initiated with Budweiser wherein Ovechkin would 'Buy a Beer' for every NHL goaltender he faced but failed to score a goal on.
Among the 28 goaltenders who "shut out" Ovechkin a number of them have taken to social media to share in the celebration.
Buffalo Sabres netminder Dylan Levi, who has faced and stopped 4 shots from Ovechkin, congratulated the NHL's all-time scorer and said he was, "happy to not be a part of it."
Retired NHL goalie Curtis Joseph also celebrated his blank slate against Ovi with a post on Twitter:
Even better though was Ovechkin's reply to CuJo though, saying, "probably score goal on next shot but u retired!"
If that's not an all-time beauty move, I don't know what is. Just classic hockey chirping from the boys. You've gotta love it!
