Ooooh... this is getting spicy!
Earlier today Czechia secured their rematch against Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Czechia eked out a 3-2 win over Denmark in today's Qualifying Match and will now take on Canada in the Quarterfinals tomorrow at 10:40am ET / 7:40am PT.
The two teams faced off in their tournament opening game with Canada earning a dominant 5-0 win, a result that most analysts are predicting the second time around.
No doubt about it, Czechia will have their work cut out for them if they're expecting to get by Canada and keep their medal hopes alive. Czechia forward Martin Necas though doesn't seem too concerned.
When asked about playing Canada again, Necas smiled and said, “We let them win the first one because we knew we were not going to win two in a row against Canada."
How's that for bulletin board material?
Necas, of course, was only being cheeky with his response but there's no denying that Czechia has the skill and the drive to get past Canada. They'll need some good fortunate along the way though, and I suspect that's what Necas is getting at.
Puck drop is 10:40am ET tomorrow morning!
