D. J. Smith issues threat to Canadiens players

Well, you don't often see this.

Michael W.

The Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators will once again do battle in the 2022 National Hockey League exhibition season, and it appears that tomorrow's matchup in New Brunswick will have all of the fireworks that occurred when the two teams last suited up on Wednesday against one another.

And Senators coach D.J. Smith has already issued a warning to players on the Habs whom he feels were taking liberties with the players on his side of things.

"We don't like (players from) the other team targeting our guys," he said. "We'll be ready for the next game."

Don't be surprised if Smith was specifically referring to new Habs tough guy Arber Xhekaj, who already has himself three fights in three games against the Sens in the preseason, including against the likes of Austin Watson and Mark Kastelic:

The Habs and new-look Sens won't take on one another in regular season play until mid-December, so they'll be sure and get any lingering hostilities out of the way tomorrow night.
