A scary situation for Leafs fans on Day 3 of training camp.
The Toronto Maple Leafs got a bit of a scare on Saturday when it comes to goaltender Anthony Stolarz, and I wouldn't be surprised if a pair of Maple Leafs get a bit of a scolding after Day 3 of training camp wraps up.
Stolarz is of course coming off of a serious injury that knocked him out of the Stanley Cup playoffs earlier this year, a concussion he suffered after being elbowed in the head by Florida Panthers' forward Sam Bennett.
The recent injury combined with an expiring contract mean that Stolarz's health will be front and center this season and it was put to the test fairly early on in training camp. That's because on Saturday, Maple Leafs newcomer Dakota Joshua crashed into Stolarz during a scrimmage, with both men thankfully walking away unscathed.
You can see the video of the incident just below:
Now I did mention that there may be two Maple Leafs who get a scolding here with the first and most obvious candidate being Joshua himself. That being said Joshua didn't get there on his own and it may very well have been a bit of a hold or hook from defenseman Dakota Mermis that caused the collision to happen in the first place.
Mermis has never played a game for the Maple Leafs during his NHL career and putting the team's star goaltender directly in the line of fire certainly won't be doing him any favors in that regard.
