Dale Hunter gets slammed by breaking safety glass after fan breaks through it.
A scary incident occurred last night during a game in the Ontario Hockey League, one involving former National Hockey League forward Dale Hunter.
On Saturday night, during a game between the Windsor Spitfires and London Knights of the OHL, Hunter and a player were slammed by a falling piece of safety glass after a fan managed to break through the protective barrier. Hunter and the player were both on the bench of the London Knights when the glass broke, causing it to shatter and fall across the bench.
The good news is that it has been confirmed that no one involved in the incident has been seriously injured, but you can tell from the video footage that Hunter took the brunt of it. As the glass comes falling down it slams into Hunter's back, causing him to fall forward and brace himself against the bench as he tries to gather himself.
We can also spot the culprit thanks to the video, a fan wearing bright red who appears to almost fall forward as the glass collapses onto Hunter. I presume that the fan was banging on the glass with both hands, as fans tend to do, and that it was his hands that caused the glass to collapse which in turn caused him to lose his balance and lurch forward.
The incident was all captured on video, although the footage isn't the clearest, and you can see it in the video below.
