This kind of crap has no place in the hockey world
You ever just sit around and wonder, "WTF is going on these days?"
From where I'm sitting the world just continues to devolve further and further into depravity and things that would have been obscenely offensive just years ago are being normalized every single day.
Last week's example of this comes courtesy of a video that went viral on social media and it features a group of Dallas Stars fans seemingly making the "Nazi Salute" during a Stars game at American Airline Center in Dallas.
Check it out:
WTF...
In a statement issued Wednesday, American Airlines Center leadership said it "has zero tolerance for any acts of hate and/or discrimination" and is investigating the incident.
"AAC has zero tolerance for any acts of hate and/or discrimination, and we aim to ensure an environment for our guests that is free from disruptive behavior, including foul/abusive language and obscene gestures," the statement said. "As such, we strongly denounce the actions that appear to be depicted in the video footage and are conducting an internal investigation."
Arena officials added that all guests are expected to follow the venue's code of conduct, as well as applicable NBA or NHL policies, when attending events.
"Guests who violate any such Code of Conduct may be subject to ejection from the event without refund and, to the extent their conduct constitutes a violation of applicable law, prosecution," the statement said.
Today, the Stars themselves issued a statement indicating that they have identified at least one of the offending individuals and have banned him from future Stars games at American Airlines Center.
“We identified and spoke with the individual that purchased the tickets and will be banning the individual indefinitely from American Airlines Center,” a team spokesperson said in a statement.
“Additionally, we are increasing in-arena messaging regarding the Fan Code of Conduct and how our fans can report violations, along with prioritizing staff training to identify and handle situations that arise.
“Any type of discriminatory or hateful behavior will not be tolerated and has no place in our arena. Creating and sustaining environments that are inclusive, safe and respectful is a non-negotiable for the Dallas Stars.”
Now, I must say that this is a great step in the right direction but I'm concerned for some of the apologist BS I've seen online defending these clowns. Crap like this has no place in modern society... and if you think it does then you need to educate yourself on some very basic world history.
