Dan Girardi gets a new and very interesting eye patch.

We got a comical freak accident in the National Hockey League on Saturday night.

Your first reaction to watching this is likely going to be something along the lines of "that looked like it hurt" but thanfully no injury occurred and everyone was able to have a good laugh about it. During Saturday's match up between the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers, Rangers forward Dan Girardi appeared to take a puck to the face.

The puck certainly made contact with his face, but it didn't seem to hurt Girardi so much as it blinded him in one eye by getting jammed in between his face and his visor, acting like some sort of hockey-themed eye patch.

As soon as the crowd realised what had happened you could hear the laughter in the building and even Girardi himself couldn't help but chuckle as he yanked the puck out of his visor.
