Insider leaks details of Dan Vladar's next deal with the Flyers.
The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly on the verge of signing goaltender Dan Vladar to a long term contract extension after Vladar had an outstanding season for the Flyers.
According to a report from the National Hockey League Network's own Kevin Weekes, the Flyers and Vladar are closing in on a deal that would see Vladar earning upwards of $25 million over the length of his new deal. According to Weekes' sources, that deal will be a 5 year contract that comes in at an average annual value and cap hit of somewhere in the neighborhood of $5.5 million per season.
As I mentioned Vladar had a tremendous season for the Flyers and was instrumental in helping them reach the Stanley Cup playoffs as well as defeat their bitter rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins in the opening round of those playoffs. Vladar has a 2.42 goals against average and a .906 save percentage in the regular season, taking on a huge workload of 52 games this season in the process. That was by far the most games played in a single season by Vladar, establishing himself as a capable full time NHL goaltender.
In the Stanley Cup playoffs Vladar was even better, recording a 2.18 goals against average and a .922 save percentage over the 10 games he played for the Flyers. That was the first real playoff experience of Vladar's career, having previously only played as a backup in 2 playoff games over the span of 3 seasons. Vladar appearing in a single game for the Boston Bruins during the 2019-2020 Stanley Cup playoffs and a single game for the Calgary Flames during the 2021-22 Stanley Cup playoffs.
It was an impressive performance for the 28 year old goaltender and one that appears to have secured him a long term contract.
