Daniel Winnik has just gone from one of the NHL's most dysfunctional teams to a Stanley Cup contender, so it's not hard to imagine he's probably relatively happy right now. Winnik spoke to the media following today's big trade and his comments were f
"I think this team is built for the playoffs, they have a lot of experience, guys who have won the Cup."Winnik has had some time to get prepared for a transition, he had heard the rumors weeks ago that suggested Pittsburgh was making an aggresive play at acquiring him.
"I read the reports that they tried to get me in January, then they made the trade for Lapierre. I thought maybe the interest was gone."However the trade did end up coming down today, and tweet from Winnik earlier this evening that he was very happy to be moving on, but he also took the time to pay his respects to Toronto despite the lack of success the team had in his time there.
Very excited 2 be joining the @penguins! Looking forward 2 having the opportunity 2 win a cup. It was an honour to play for the @MapleLeafs
