Darnell Nurse was waiting for his chance to clap back at this journalist.
You could tell that veteran National Hockey League defenseman Darnell Nurse was just waiting for his chance.
On Friday night Nurse, who was traded to the San Jose Sharks over the summer, got into a very minor verbal altercation with Edmonton Oilers reporter Mark Spector. Spector is known for his often times blunt coverage of the players and the team and judging by this latest interaction it seems you can add Nurse to the list of players who don't appreciate that coverage.
It would seem that Nurse took issue to comments made by Spector when he discussed the possibility of Nurse being traded this summer, comments that alluded to the fact that Nurse's contract was too high and that his hockey sense wasn't up to snuff for a player in his role.
When Spector approached Nurse to ask a question on Friday night, Nurse made sure to get his clap back while the cameras were rolling.
"You know with my low IQ I don't know if I'm able to answer your questions," said Nurse with a smile that made it very clear what he was up to. "I think your questions are a little above my head."
While Nurse was smiling he also made it clear that, while funny, his comments also carried some real meaning behind them.
"Next!" said Nurse loudly while staring directly at Spector before moving on to take questions from other reporters.
