Darryl Sutter slams the officiating in Toronto after losing to the Leafs.
The Flames head coach was not happy.
The Toronto Maple Leafs took a hard fought victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, but for the Flames it proved to be their second loss in as many nights and it was seemingly a frustrating one for certain members of the Flames organization.
Leading the charge on that front following the game was none other than Calgary Flames head coach Darryl Sutter, who following the game made no secrets about his displeasure. Unlike the previous night where he called out his players for a lackluster effort however, Sutter this time took issue with the officiating that occurred throughout the course of the game.
Sutter didn't just call out the poor officiating though, he appeared to hint at the fact that the league shows favoritism towards the Toronto Maple Leafs on their home ice.
"Well that's one thing I learned a long time ago Eric, when you're in Chicago all those years and you come into Toronto, you know what goes on," said a visibly frustrated Sutter. "I won't say nothing more."
Sutter here is likely referring to his experience as both a player and a coach for the Chicago Blackhawks, and there's no question that he has had plenty of experience playing against the Leafs on home ice over his lengthy NHL career.
When pressed on the officiating by Flames reporter Eric Francis, Sutter expounded on his thoughts a little by indicating he felt some of the penalty calls that were made against his team were undeserved.
"Do you think they were all penalties tonight?" asked Sutter in response to Francis' question. "I don't."
