David Ayres chirps Matthews and Leafs snipers while quarantined at home
That is one dialled in Zamboni driver!
HockeyFeed
Believe it or not, we’re just one month removed from the historic moment when Zamboni driver turned emergency NHL goalie David Ayres put on the performance of a lifetime.
With everything going on in the world right now, Ayres' 15 minutes of fame seems like it happened years ago.
The thing is… Ayres’ moment in the sun will live on forever. I mean… who can forget moments like this?
It was truly an incredible evening and one that will live on forever in the NHL's history books.
Ayres started shaky but recovered in the third period behind a strong Hurricanes defence and even managed to make saves on superstars like Auston Matthews and John Tavares. Speaking of Matthews, Ayres himself took to Twitter yesterday to answer a couple questions from Leafs fans, specifically, "How does it feel to have Auston Matthews shoot on you all the time?"
Check it out:
Wait... wait... I'm confused. Having Matthews shoot on you feels like trying to stop a NERF dart from point blank range? Makes sense. But... you stopped every shot, David. What gives?!
Ah... right. Makes total sense now. This guy is such a brick wall he could probably stop Matthews in just his bathing suit.
