I love my life. I've got my health, I've got a beautiful family and I get to spend my days watching a ton of hockey. I wouldn't trade places with anyone else in the world... anyone except David Ayres, that is.

The former Zamboni driver turned folk hero is an absolute legend of the game thanks to one fateful night in February of 2020 when he was forced into action and defeated his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs as the emergency backup goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes. We all remember it. It was glorious.

Now Ayres is parking the Zamboni for a bit and has accepted a head coaching job with the PJHL's Port Perry Lumberjacks!

There goes my hero!
