I have to admit that of all the National Hockey League team's that showed up in Lake Tahoe over the weekend, no one put on a better show than the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins showed up on Sunday looking like a blast from the past with every single member of their roster decked out in 90's style apparel, fanny packs, bright colors, Mighty Ducks jerseys, and all. It made for an incredible scene as they all walked out towards the ice on the shore of Lake Tahoe, and it provoked quite the reaction from fans on social media who all seem to be loving it.
The Bruins however were back to serious business when game time rolled around, having ditched their 90's apparel and instead having donned their Bruins jerseys and regular equipment. That is every Bruin except for one.
Perhaps unwilling to give up the fun of the 90's vibe that the Bruins had going, or perhaps realizing that he just looked simply too damn cool, David Pastrnak was unwilling to ditch his entire outfit. Instead Pastrnak walked out to the ice wearing shades that very much resemble those often worn by the late and great "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Although it was a relatively subtle thing, fans were quick to notice that Pastrnak was heading out to the ice with the extra shades, and it may even be that he carried that swagger into the game.
Here's another angle:
I say Pastrnak may have carried that swagger onto the ice because it was just seconds into the game before the Bruins opened up the scoring in this one, and guess who was the man putting the puck in the back of the net? Although he had of course ditched the shades by this point, Pastrnak made no mistake just 34 seconds into the contest giving the Bruins a 1 - 0 lead.
The Bruins weren't the only ones having some fun outside at Lake Tahoe today though. Their mascot Blades The Bruin engaged in a rather hilarious snowball fight earlier in the day against Flyers mascot Gritty, although it would appear that Gritty came out on top in this one.
