It’s done in Colorado. The Avalanche has signed defenseman Devon Toews to a seven-year contract extension on Friday, worth $7.25 million average annual value.
Toews, who was one of the team’s key pending free agent, was looking for a raise from the $4.1-million average salary he was getting on the three-year deal he signed in October 2020. He came to Colorado in a trade from the New York Islanders for a pair of second-round picks in the 2021 and 2022 NHL Draft.
Since he’s been inserted in the Avalanche’s lineup, Toews has averaged over 25 minutes per game and has 122 points in 200 games in Colorado. And now, he’s here to stay.
