The Boston Bruins are clearly making room for defenseman Charlie McAvoy, but need to sacrifie another blue liner in Mike Reilly.
On Wednesday, the Bruins announced that Reilly has been placed on waivers for purpose of assignment to Providence.
This is the second this season Reilly has landed on the waiver wire. At the very start of the calendar, the Bruins had also placed him on there in order to respect the salary cap.
The 29-year-old has skated in 10 games with Boston this season, recording one assist. He has appeared in 339 career NHL games, totalling 12 goals and 86 assists for 98 points.
When he first landed on the wire, reports emerged that the Montreal Canadiens had attempted to pick him off there, but couldn’t fit him under their cap.
Maybe this time, Habs GM Kent Hughes will make it room before tomorrow noon’s deadline.
In other waiver action on Wednesday, the Ottawa Senators have placed Nikita Zaitsev and Magnus Hellberg on waivers.
