All of the attention of the Detroit Red Wings fan base is currently tuned to the health and status of Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin.

Over the weekend, Larkin was knocked unconscious in somewhat of a bizarre incident and would remain down on the ice for several long moments. Given that the Red Wings did not play on Sunday we did not receive an update of any kind, however on Monday Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde spoke to the media and fielded some questions on the subject of his injured captain.

"Obviously Dylan's going to the IR," said Lalonde on Monday. "No timeframe on it. It makes him unavailable for at least a week and I think we will know more as time goes on."

Lalonde was asked for more specific details but refused to provide any, even when pressed multiple times. Asked if Larkin was dealing with a concussion, Lalonde refused to answer.

"That's not my category," said Lalonde. "We put him on the IR, he will be listed as upper-body."

Asked about whether or not any of Larkin's previous injuries had played a factor, Lalonde once again shut down the line of questioning.

"I wanna be careful with his privacy," said Lalonde.

The Red Wings aren't being very forthcoming about this particular injury, although what that may mean is anyone's guess at this time.
