Red Wings get a deal done amid trade rumors.
If you've kept your ear to the ground this offseason than you have undoubtedly heard the name of Teemu Pulkkinen on the trade rumor mill at some point.
The 24 year old forward was notably involved in the trade rumors surrounding the movement of the Pavel Datsyuk contract, but as we now know those deals never came to fruition with Detroit finding a much better partner in the Arizona Coyotes.
It may be for that reason that while the Red Wings did re-sign the young forward, they also signed him to a very low-risk and low-value contract. According to a report from Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press the Red Wings have committed to a one year deal worth just $812,500.
It's unclear what the plan is here for Detroit, but based on this deal it may still be to find a trading partner for Pulkkinen.
