Details of Kyle Dubas' new contract with the Penguins have begun to emerge and it is massive.

By now just about everyone has heard about the major development in Pittsburgh with the hiring of a new president of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Last week the Penguins announced that they had secured the services of Kyle Dubas for the foreseeable future, and now we are learning just how far the Penguins were willing to go to make sure that happened.

On Saturday night, during the second intermission for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman was able to reveal some details about the massive contract offer that Dubas received to take on his new role.

"From what I understand it's big term," revealed Friedman on Saturday night. "I think it's 7 years for Dubas to be the president of hockey operations and interim GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins."

During his final press conference as the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dubas went out of his way to stress how the uncertainty surrounding his future had been taxing for his family. On the other side of that coin, in his first ever press conference as president of hockey operations, Dubas expressed just how much both he and his family valued the commitment that the Penguins and the Fenway Sports Group had made to them following his ouster in Toronto. A contract that will keep Dubas in his role for the better part of the next decade certainly seems to align with his public comments.

"No confirmation but I believe that's what it is," said Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "7 years. Big commitment to him and him with a big commitment to them."
