UPDATE: The deal sending K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes is done. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that the New York Rangers first signed Miller to an 8 year contract worth $7.5 million before shipping him to the Hurricanes.

Rangers insider Larry Brooks reports that the Rangers are receiving a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick and defenseman Scott Morrow in exchange for Miller.

Read below for our earlier report on this developing story, published as events occurred.

According to multiple online reports, the New York Rangers have signed 29 ear old defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov to a seven year contract worth $7 million per season.

Incidentally, the Rangers are also trading RFA defenseman K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes.

No word yet on the return for Miller on the trade, so stay tuned for that.

Rangers GM Chris Drury has more or less re-shaped his entire defensive corps around superstar Adam Fox in the past calendar year. Gavrikov is in, Miller is out. Former captain Jacob Trouba, of course, is long gone. Will Borgen and Carson Soucy are also new additions.

Like it or not, the Blue Shirts will look very different on the blue line next season.
