Last night marked an important night for sophomore sensation Dylan Larkin of the Detroit Red Wings. Previously caught in a heavy funk for some time, he managed to score two goals against the Carolina Hurricanes in a 4-2 victory, bringing his points total to three in seven regular season games.

 

 

Thomas Vanek once again added a goal and was helped by his line mates Darren Helm and Andreas Anthanasiou, while the latter scored his first goal of the season on a two-point night at the Joe Louis Arena.

 

While the Hurricanes might not have been the Red Wings’ biggest test to date, a strong team effort by head coach Jeff Blashill’s troops has certainly caused fans to be optimistic about a 26th consecutive postseason appearance.

 

Thus, Blashill has no reason to tinker with his forward group’s line combinations, save for the injured Justin Abdelkader who is rotating in and out of the fourth line:
