UPDATE: Lagesson has been suspended 3 games from the AHL for attempting to choke out his opponent this past weekend.

Here's one I've never seen before: A UFC style 'tap out' during a professional hockey game.

Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings) defenseman William Lagesson wrestled his opponent to the ice this past weekend, putting him in a chokehold like he's Jon 'Bones' Jones.

Uh... what is the ref doing here?

I'm all for tough hockey, but this sort of thing has no place in the sport. Take up martial arts or wrestling if you're keen on choking guys out. This is hockey, save this nonsense for the Dojo.
