Canada gets some awful injury news.
Team Canada's captain Marie-Philip Poulin left today's game against Team Czechia after suffering an apparent leg injury after taking a huge hit and a fall in the 1st period of tonight's game.
Poulin went down hard and needed help off the ice, favoring her left leg the entire time.
Here's the hit in question:
Poulin returned to the team's bench to end the 1st period, but did not join the team for the 2nd period and missed the rest of Canada's 5-1 victory.
Now, Canada's head coach Troy Ryan is saying that Poulin's status for tomorrow's game against Team USA is not yet known.
Obviously, this is concerning for Poulin and for Team Canada.
Tomorrow's Canada/USA game is being viewed as a potential Gold Medal preview and Poulin is arguably the best player in the women's game. If Canada can't get her into the roster, they will be playing at a serious disadvantage.
Stay tuned.
