The Vegas Golden Knights lost 5-3 to the Nashville Predators at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night, but the biggest loss came when team captain Mark Stone sustained an upper-body injury.

During the second period of the contest, Stone took a huge hit from forward Yakov Trenin in the neutral zone and appeared to be shaken up on the play. Trenin was called for interference on the play.

Stone however finish the middle frame, but did not return for the third period and it was eventually announced that he would miss the remainder of the game.

After the contest, head coach Bruce Cassidy did not know what was the update on his captain, but on Wednesday, general manager Kelly McCrimmon told Pierre McGuire and Jimmy Murphy that he expects Stone will be out a while.

Stone has yet to miss a game so far this season and leads the team in scoring with 53 points (16 goals and 37 assists) in 55 games. He was coming back full force after a career-threatening injury to his back. According to SinBin Vegas, sources are saying it's NOT his back.

The oft-injured winger has stayed pretty healthy this season and had registered one shot on goal in 13:14 minutes of ice time before leaving the game.

Let’s see what “a while” means and the impact it will have on the Golden Knights’s plan prior to the trade deadline and heading into the postseason.
