Developments in Brad Marchand possibly going to Toronto
Latest trade update with the deadline around the corner. More details below:
With hours to go until the deadline, the Boston Bruins remain open to the possibility of trading captain Brad Marchand. Kevin Weekes believes the Toronto Maple Leafs must go after the gritty veteran forward.
“no team needs Bruins’ Marchand more than the Maple Leafs. He’s a winner, and they could use his big time Playoff experience.”
While both the Bruins and Marchand are still going back and forth on a possible extension, he remains a pending free agent in the final year of an eight-year, $49 million contract that carries a $6.13 million cap hit.
Marchand is out week-to-week with an upper-body injury and would more than likely prefer to stay and get extended in Boston.
But would he welcome a trade to Toronto to play with Team Canada teammate Mitch Marner for a long playoff run? Perhaps…
Marchand has 21 goals and 26 assists for 47 points in 61 games this season, his 16th with the organization. He has 422 goals and 554 assists for 976 points in 1,090 NHL regular season games.
